Meet Julie

Julie Dzerowicz is the first female Member of Parliament for Davenport. Born and raised in Toronto, she is the daughter of parents who immigrated from Mexico and Ukraine and came to Canada to find a safe place to raise their children. From her parents Julie learned the importance of hard work and education as a means to achieving one’s full potential.

She holds a Masters degree of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia, and worked in senior roles in both the public and private sector, while also co-founding the non-profit Project Neutral to help households measure their carbon footprint.

Government Service

First elected as Member of Parliament for Davenport in 2015, re-elected in 2019, 2021 and 2025, Julie has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Julie currently serves as the Chair of the Toronto Caucus, Chair of the Canada-NATO Parliamentary Association, Chair of the Standing Committee of  Citizenship and Immigration. In 2017 Julie introduced a motion to designate June 10 as Portugal Day and the month of June as Portuguese Heritage month. In 2021 Julie introduced a private members bill calling upon the Minister of Finance to develop a national strategy for a guaranteed basic income and recently, founded Hispanic Day on the Hill.

Julie has been a consistent and effective advocate for the riding of Davenport, securing historic levels of federal funding for her community — including investments through the New Horizons for Seniors Program, Youth Employment initiatives, and transformative cycling infrastructure that became a model for the entire city of Toronto.
